Singapore Air supplies office tools for travelers

The Krisworld inflight entertainment system on Singapore Airlines will be outfitted with a suite of spreadsheet, presentation and word processing tools as well as live text news.

The suite is base on Sun Microsystems StarOffice platform. Other Sun Microsystems applications available will be Culture Quest and Executive Book Summaries. Passengers can access and save documents and files in thumb drives by plugging them into USB ports that SIA has built into every seat. “Customers don’t even have to power up their laptops,” SIA boasts.

The airline will also supply first and business class customers with active noise reduction headsets. Passengers are also allowed to have flexible meal service to balance work and relaxation.
