LSG answers demand with frozen food plant
To meet the growing demands for frozen meals among airlines in the United States, LSG Sky Chefs will this year complete a new frozen food manufacturing plant at its Customer Service Center in Pittsburgh.
The caterer says that it has chosen the plant for its proximity to international gateways on the East Coast and in the Midwest. First meals will be shipped out of the plant in November of this year.
The Pittsburgh plant is the second frozen food facility in development by LSG Sky Chefs. In February of this year, the caterer announced that it is working with China National Aviation Ltd. to build a frozen food plant in Qingdao in China’s Shandong province. LSG Sky Chefs will make 35,000 frozen meals per day when the China facility opens early next year.
