Two Excel executives resign

Though not confirmed as a link from the contract between Excel Airways and Alpha Airports Group, newspapers around the United Kingdom are reporting that Excel Airways’ chief operating officer and financial officer have left the Iceland-based charter carrier.

Excel entered into a £7.5 million (US$13.8 million) pact with the caterer, but the deal was questioned for its irregularities, and caused Alpha’s accounting firm to withdraw support of its preliminary yearend report. In July, the figures were approved with no changes.

Excel’s COO Steven Tomlinson and CFO Paul Roberts resigned on Tuesday, July 11. Excel officials however, told The Independent in London that the resignations were for “personal reasons” and not connected with the contract with Alpha.

A full story on Alpha’s plans for the year, is in the July/August issue of PAX International.
