BAS catering unit adequate for now, says Keddie
Bahrain Airport Services’ catering unit in Manama has a capacity to produce more than 15,000 meals per day for nearly 40 airline customers, and is adequate for now, says the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, Graham Keddie.
“I think we have quite a large facility here already, which is producing just under fifteen thousand meals per day." He tells PAX International. "Currently we also have room to expand. From our perspective, it is not something that we are desperate to do, just yet.”
Other priorities for Keddie involve staffing. In the year ahead, he says that BAS will initiate an extensive customer-training regime for its entire front-end staff. BAS also plans to extend its training to ramp and ground handling employees.
“It (Bahrain) has got a good airport and good government and a very good workforce,” says Keddie. “For example, 80 percent of the staff is Bahraini, which is a rarity for the region. Decisions are made quickly here and it has always been sort of the financial center (for the Gulf region).”
A complete story on Graham Keddie is in the July/August issue of PAX International.
