ANZ revamps upper end economy classes,
signs caterers

New menus designed by its chef consultants, hot towels, amenity kits and other comfort items and noise canceling headsets are part of the new Pacific Premium Economy service on Air New Zealand’s 747s.

Passengers are offered pre-takeoff drinks and can pick their meals on printed menus. Snack service is also available throughout the flight.

"The additional eight seats we added in October will not be the last Pacific Premium Economy expansion, as we work to keep up with customer demand," said Ed Sims, group general manager of international for ANZ. The revamped Pacific Premium Economy service will be available on all long-haul 747 and 777 dedicated routes.

Air New Zealand recently signed a seven-year extension of a comprehensive catering agreement LSG Sky Chefs, which has been catering the airline at its home base since 1997. The new agreement will take effect in August of next year and will run through August of 2014. It covers airline catering services 65 Air New Zealand flights per day and approximately 13,000 daily meals.

Also taking effect this year, is a new five-year agreement between Air New Zealand and Alpha Flight Services to cater flights out of Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Cairns.
