LSG to build frozen food plant in China

Qingdao in Shangdong Province will be the location of a new frozen meal plant that is a joint venture between the China National Aviation Group and LSG Sky Chefs.

The plant will be designed to meet the growing demand for airline catering meals. The initial phases call for a plant with the capacity to produce 35,000 deep-frozen airline meals per day out of a 10,000 square meter location that will open in early 2008.

“Airlines in this part of the world are showing interest in these products due to the high quality and consistency of the meals,” said HK Cheung, LSG Sky Chefs’ regional COO for Asia/Pacific in the February 20 announcement of the new facility.

The plant will be the 11th facility that LSG Sky Chefs operates in the country.
