Philippine plans cabin changes
Philippine Airlines will be spending P3.5 billion (US$86 million) renovating its long-haul fleet and moving from the three class to two class layout.
The airline announced the changes February 5. Five 747-400s and four A340s will be involved in the renovations, which will start in June. Philippine plans to install a new inflight entertainment system and add a modern look “that emulates the tranquil seas and sandy beaches of the Philippines,” said a release from the airline.
The front cabin will be called Mabuhay Class and economy will be called Fiesta Class. New seats will be by Recaro in Germany in both classes.
Philippine plans to personalize the meal service, offering a la carte with the crew plating each dish in Mabuhay Class. Among the Filipino favorites that will be available in Mabuhay will be arroz caldo (rice porridge) with tokwa (tofu) and tapas.
Philippine has picked Noritake for its new tableware in Mabuhay Class.
