HMSHost announces expansions, contracts

Bethesda, Maryland-based HMSHost ended the year with three new contracts for airport concessionaire service – two in the United States and one in the airport in Bangalore, India.

The most recent contract was an extension of service at Port Columbus International Airport in Ohio. The company signed an extension that will run through 2016 that will immediately result in six new outlets over the next year. The outlets will generate approximately US$120 million in revenue through the life of the contract.

Columbus will receive a Starbucks Coffee outlet, a pizza outlet called Famous Familglia, a Mexican restaurant called Tequileria, a Wolfgang Puck Gourmet Express, a restaurant themed after the Ohio State Buckeyes football team and a Johnny Rocket’s hamburger and sandwich restaurant.

HMSHost currently has four outlets in Columbus.

At Portland International Airport in Oregon, HMSHost will build five new dining facilities in 2007 that are expected to generate US$44 million over the 10-year life of the contract.

On tap to be completed over the next 10 months are: Rose’s Deli and Bakery, Rogue Ales Public House of microbrew beers and three Starbuck’s Coffee outlets.

At the growing airport in Bangalore, HMSHost will have operations in the domestic and international departures areas. The international area will have the Illy Bar, an Indian themed sports bar and a Pizza Hut restaurant. On the domestic side, HMSHost will have Barista Coffee outlet and a restaurant called Indian Free Flow, a concept developed by the company.
