JetBlue expands seat pitch
JetBlue announced this month that it will be removing a row of seats on its A320s, giving passengers in rows 1-11 a seat pitch of 36 inches and rows 12-25 34 inches of room.
In addition to providing more room, the airline says it hopes to save US$30 million a year by removing the six seats from each aircraft. The weight savings is approximately 904 pounds. The new configuration also requires one less flight crew member.
As the year came to a close, JetBlue noted several improvements to its cabin service, including the addition of Dunkin’ Donuts® coffee and a selection of wines picked by the airline’s “Low Fare Sommelier” Josh Wesson from Best Cellars®. Finally, the airline has added new amenity kits for its red-eye flights by a company called Bliss Spa.
