BA takes chip and pin system from Clue Trader

A new point of sale system on British Airways will help cut back on credit card fraud using a chip and pin technology made by the UK based company Clue Trader.

The system was purchased in part due to the new “liability shift” introduced last year whereby banks will no longer cover fraud and charge backs that could have been prevented with chip and pin technology. Officials say BA is the first carrier to achieve a chip and pin accreditation end to end. Using the technology, they say that a credit card is inserted in the system exports information to the bank to meet stringent requirements laid out by card companies, banks and regulators.
