KLM revamps catering product
Starting December 1, passengers on KLM Royal Dutch Airlines saw several improvements its food service on international long haul and routes within Europe.
World Business Class service improvements include a new collaboration with chef brothers Jacques and Laurent Pourcel, who have restaurants in several countries. The new menus will run through the summer for routes out of Amsterdam.
In international economy class, the airline has put together a series of meals with the help of Bertolli, the Italian food specialties group. It has also increased the size of hors d’oeuvres and desserts and added new tableware to the service.
On routes to India, the airline is working with celebrity chef Andy Varma of the Vama Group to develop a selection of Indian and Western cuisine in both classes.
Within Europe, the airline developed a new service for passengers on cityhopper and Europe Select with the help of Peter Klosse of the Dutch restaurant De Echoput. Passengers on flights of more than 100 minutes receive a meal box with drinks served in a porcelain mug and glassware. Finally in KLM economy, the airline has introduced an identical meal product for both KLM and cityhopper aircraft. The airline is also in the midst of revamping the interior and exterior of its fleet of Fokker aircraft.
