Gulf Air marking Indian holiday

During this week, Gulf Air was honoring the Indian harvest holiday of Onam, which is celebrated in the state of Kerala.

The observance took place on Gulf Air flights to Travandrum and Kochi. On the flights, Gulf Air served a meal of avial, erssery and sambar with red rice and a traditional dessert called ada pradhaman for lunch. The airline also offered passengers meat dishes of chicken curry and Kerela parathas.

Keralites traditionally have a large feast during Onam. “Bahrain is a second home of thousands of Keralites, and as the national carrier flying to these two cities for decades, we are pleased to provide a start-off to their festival serving their favorite meal on-board,” said Lee Shave, Gulf Air’s vice president of marketing and sales, Lee Shave.

In other news, Gulf Air has begun boarding a range of hand-made premium chocolates for first class.

The chocolates are made by Bahraini chocolatiers Ali Rashid and Marjo Rashid under an exclusive agreement with the airline. The pair trained in The Netherlands and creates chocolates such as zanzabil ginger, muhallabiah caramel and hazelnut. Raw material is sourced in European countries.
