IATA plans for November Summit

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has plans for what it calls a “unique conference designed to offer delegates an opportunity to debate current trends and issues affecting Inflight service today, with the aim of improving safety, cabin crew management, catering, and customer service.”

IATA’s Inflight Management Summit will be held November 8 - 10 at the IATA Conference Centre in Geneva.

The IATA Inflight Management Summit is the prime venue to gain insight into emerging trends and best practices in inflight service, discover innovative approaches in dealing with critical issues affecting cabin crew, and learn about effective solutions to reduce operational costs while striving to anticipate and meet customer needs.

Among the Summit highlights are:

IATA Board Update on 2006 Inflight Service activities and a discussion on planned 2007 activities:
Inflight Management: Cabin crew scheduling systems, change management, mobile phones
Cabin Safety: Turbulence, slide deployment, threat management
Cabin Health: Avian flu, PRM’s, the SOLVE program:
Inflight Catering: Outsourced vs. In-house purchasing, IATA Catering Quality Assurance (ICQA) programme, on-board sales control, RFID for trolley tracking.

PAX International will be taking part in the November event as IATA's media partner. PAX International Editor-in-chief Rick Lundstrom will moderate the session on catering purchasing during the event.
