MAS signs Hajj charter contract
Malaysia Airlines and the company Lembaga Tabun Haji will operate charter flights between Malaysia and Jeddah and Medina for the 1428 Hijrah in 2007 and 2008.
The airline announced the agreement in mid July. Malaysian Airlines will use two 747-400s that seat 380 passengers and a 777-200 that will seat 200. During the 56 flights during the period, Malaysia Airlines expects to carry 13,000 pilgrims. MAS brings in a team of specially trained service personnel during the critical time.
Among the inflight services are personal television screens that allow passengers to listen of classical instrumentals, Nasyid selections and Quranic verses.
The flights will operate form Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
