LCC’s continue to storm Asia
Low Cost Carriers are now represent 10 percent of the total air traffic in the Asian markets, prompting airports to consider dedicated terminals, like the ones in Singapore, reports the eTN Travel Press.
LCC’s have particular needs in the region, says Peter Harbison, chairman for the Center for Asia Pacific Aviation. He said airport should carefully plan terminals to avoid a wasteful investment.
One of the cities considering a new LCC terminal is Bangkok, which now is eyeing the possibility of a 15 million-passenger facility.
The subject of LCC terminals will be part of the 2006 Airport Development Conference August 29 to September 2 in Singapore. PAX International will be visiting the new Bangkok airport and will file a report in its September/October issue.
