Indian fare added on SIA
Starting this month, passengers can savor shahi thali, a dazzling spread of traditional Indian dishes in first class on Singapore Airlines on its flights to five cities in the subcontinent.
Shahi thali is the traditional fare of northern and southern India. For SIA the meals were designed by Chef Sanjeev Kapoor. Two types of chutneys, four entrees, rice, rotis bread, a lassi yogurt drink, masala tea and choices of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are part of the shahi thali experience.
Chef Sanjeev is the newest member of the Singapore Airlines Culinary Panel. He has written several books and hosts a television series called Khana Khanzana.
Singapore Airlines has added several ethnic cuisines to its front cabin service, most recently Hanagoyomi Japanese meals and Shi Quan Shi Mei Chinese dishes.
A story on SIA’s new tea service for first class can be found in the July/August issue of PAX International.
