Gate Gourmet receives health rating
Gate Gourmet announced April 11 that it was the first airline caterer in the United Kingdom to be awarded the European Commission’s Health Mark for food hygiene standards.
The Health Mark is part of an EC directive that is enforced by two governing bodies in the U.K. Companies that comply with the directive and earn the Health Mark will have a logo placed on all outer food canisters and food carts so products can be accurately traced.
Gate Gourmet says that its units will be inspected every three months as part of the compliance criteria. The Gate Gourmet operations in the U.K. and Ireland handle foodservice for 40 airlines at London Heathrow, Gatwick, Bristol, Newcastle, Dublin and Glasgow.
In other news from Gate Gourmet, the company announced April 16 that credit rating agencies Moody’s and Standards & Poors upgraded company ratings. Moody’s citing improved operations from cost cutting gave Gate Gourmet higher ratings on two of the company's loan facilities.
In late March, S&P raised Gate Gourmet’s credit rating and upgraded the ratings on the two loan facilities. S&P also removed Gate Gourmet from CreditWatch.
