Competition heats up on Madrid/Barcelona route

Just as Iberia Airlines upgraded its food service offering on its Mardrid-Barcelona air bridge, the Spanish Rail line Renfe completed its high speed AVE rail service from Madrid to Viadolid and on to Barcelona.

“An offer of services, both original and creative catering based on ethical and environmental principles will be provided to the travelers for the duration of their journey,” said a release from Companies des Wagon-Lits, the caterer for the high-speed service that links the two major cities in 2 hours, 38 minutes.

The caterer plans a full service for passengers in the Renfe Club and Preferente Classes. A total of 50 trains per day are circulating on the daily route.
