EATS expanded on Delta

All domestic flights of 750 miles or more and flights to selected international beach destinations will now have food for purchase on Delta Air Lines, the carrier announced April 1.

The airline says that customer demand prompted the expanded program. Fruit and cheese plates, cereal by Kashi and a raisin bagel are part of the breakfast offering. Delta in March added a chicken Parmesan sandwich with basil pesto and parsley and tomato sauce on a chiabatta roll for US$8. A bistro salad with pulled chicken breast, spinach, bacon, red onion, lentils and goat cheese in a red wine vinaigrette also sells for $8. Finally a hummus and vegetable mix, with pita chips, olive tapinade and vegetables sells for US$7.

Delta uses celebrity chef Todd English for its EATS meal design. The Delta program was launched in September 2007 on coast-to-coast flights.

The airline in May will be featuring XXX and Power C vitaminwater® from Glacéau in 20 ounce bottles selling for US$3.

Delta now offers its passengers the option of paying by credit card for any purchase on board.
